Battle Picture Weekly comic issues

 

Battle Picture Weekly came out in March 1975, before 2000AD in 1977, with many of the same team that created 2000AD including Pat Mills, John Wagner, Gerry Finley-Day, Tom Tully and Carlos Ezquerra.  

 

For 2000AD (and Star Lord) fans of Strontium Dog, drawn by Carlos Ezquerra, you can see the same style characters and artwork in the Rat Pack and Major Easy stories.   Later stories such as Charley's War, by Pat Mills and Joe Colquhoun, are viewed as British comic classics.  

 

Rebellion, who own Battle Picture Weekly, publish collected works of Battle stories under thier Treasury of British Comics titles and there is also a Battle of Britain 2020 Special.

General comic range checking notes

 

All issues had colour centre pages. Check every issue to make sure they are there. These are often missing for issues with centre page pull-out posters, booklet pages or pull-out game parts. The vast majority of issues also had colour rear covers, with lots of issues with cut outs and booklet pages, so if you spot a black and white rear cover, check to see if the rear cover has been removed.
