About Jumble Saler auction descrition templates
There will be a lot of standard information you want to put on your
eBay auction descriptions, such as:
|
Despatch
I go to the Post Office on Monday's, Wednesday's and Fridays.
Postage
I'm happy to combine postage if you win more than one of my
auctions.
|
What you can do is to put all of this information into a default template
for your your eBay listings, so that this information automatically gets
added to your listings went you send them to eBay.
Where to I set up the default template?
The default template is on the system setting screen, which
you get to by on the menu clicking on 'File' and then 'System settings'.
Then select the 'Template' tab:
Using different description templates for different auctions
You can also use the 'Maintenance' button in the above screen shot,
on on the main menu, click on 'Admin' and 'Description Template Manager'.
This will allow you to create multiple description templates with names.
When you then add or edit an auciton on the 'New auction lots' tab, then you
can select either 'NONE', 'DEFAULT' or a custom one you have set up from the
Description template drop down list:
Where do I start to create my own template?
How to download someone else's auction description and use this as the basis
of your own template
The easiest way is to find an auction where you like how the auction has
been formatted, and download it and amend. On the
System settings 'Template' tab, there
is a 'Get desc from auction' button, which allows you to download an
existing auction. You can then replace the descrition of the item
within this with the <DESCRIPTION> placeholder variables and customise to
produce your own template.
IMPORTANT - Copyright notice
If there is a copyright notice or symbol on the auction's description you
are downloading, then you shouldn't use it. Also make sure you remove
any logos or pictures used, as these may also be copyrighted by their
owners.
Fancy description templates that you see on some eBay auctions
eBay templates are created in HTML which is the same language used for
website pages. The fancy designs you see on some websites are either
designed by website designers or you can download free templates. Try
a google search on 'eBay templates', 'free ebay templates', etc.
How are the templates actually used
Click on the 'New auction lots' and then click on the 'Add new' button.
After filling in Title, price, then scroll down to the description section:
You have a chooice between DEFAULT and NONE. Selection DEFAULT will
tell Jumble Saler to merge the description from this item with the template.
Whenever you type in the description box (which is just specific to the
auction you are working on) and it will get merged with the template and you
can see a preview (in the image above, on the right side).
When you then send your new auction to eBay, then merged full description
to you on the right side is what is set to eBay and becomed the full
description for your item.
