IMPORTANT - Before you import
It's always a good idea to backup your Jumble Saler database first as
imports can overwrite existing product information and mistakes in the
import file could be very timeconsuming to fix afterwards.
Getting a template spreadsheet (.csv file) ready to import
If you are starting from scratch, then you much first create 1 or more
comic groups on the groups screen. We then suggest you add a comic
manually and then export to a CSV file to open in Microsoft Excess or
OpenOffice. This will then show you the data you need to enter as a
minimum and the format.
Use the 'Export' option to create a sample import spreadsheet in CSV
format (CSV files are text files that can be read by spreadsheet programs
and other applications). You can add information on your comics in
either Microsoft Excel, OpenOffice or another spreadsheet and then add your
new comic products.
Importing
Use the Browse button select your import file and click on Import.
The first thing Jumble Saler will do is to check your import file for any
potential problems and give you a list of any problems. If no problems
are found, then the system will import your file. This will add new
products and update existing ones.
Product codes (SKU's)
See
Creating product codes for comics for
our recommendations to keep you product codes as compatible as possible with
Jumble Saler.
Automatically downloading pictures from Internet websites
The main picture field in Jumble Saler import CSV files is called
'PictureLarge' and there are also 11 other picture fields you could use as
well. If you put the full URL of Internet pictures in your CSV file
'PictureLarge' column, such as:
https://www.jumblesaler.com/Comics/SCREAM/SCREAM0001.jpg
then Jumble Saler will automatically download and cache them so that they
appear next to your stock system products. You should also just use a
picture name in the 'PictureLarge' column, such as 'SCREAM0001.jpg' and then
specify a folder from which to collect them.
